Luxury bedroom ideas
A luxury bedroom feels quiet, soft and finished. These are the details that make the difference.

A tall headboard
An oversized upholstered or channel-tufted headboard — taller than usual, sometimes floor to near-ceiling — is the signature of a luxury bedroom. Velvet, boucle or leather in ivory, taupe, charcoal or deep green all work.
Symmetry
Matching nightstands, matching lamps, and art or sconces centered above each. Symmetry reads as calm and intentional, which is most of what luxury means in a bedroom.

Try it on your own room

Try it freeBedding like a hotel
- Crisp white or ivory sheets, a duvet with a little weight, and a coverlet folded at the foot.
- Large euro shams against the headboard, sleeping pillows in front, one long lumbar pillow.
- A cashmere-feel or velvet throw for color and texture.
Materials and finishes
Mix soft and hard: velvet and linen with marble, lacquer, brass or smoked glass. Keep metals to one or two finishes. A mirrored or lacquered nightstand adds glamour without clutter.
Light and drapery
Bedside lamps with substantial bases, a statement ceiling fixture on a dimmer, and floor-length lined curtains with blackout backing. Hang them right below the ceiling for height.
Underfoot
A large, thick rug that extends at least 24 inches on both sides of the bed. Wool or a high-quality viscose blend feels the most luxurious.
Mistakes to avoid
- Over-pillowing the bed until it looks like a showroom.
- Mixing three or more metal finishes.
- Small, low headboards on a big bed.
- Leaving a bright TV or desk in view; luxury bedrooms are for rest.
Budget tips
The headboard, bedding and curtains create most of the effect. A bench at the foot of the bed is a small piece that adds a lot. Redecorly does not have a separate hotel style — its Luxury style is the one to try for this look.
